Jesus wants to FORGIVE you!

FORGIVENESS

Introduction

May I ask you a question?  Have you come to a place in your life that you know for certain that you have eternal life and that you will go to heaven when you die?   Would it surprise you to learn that the Holy Bible says you can know?  Look at this verse:  “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”  1 John 5:13 (KJV).

May I ask you another question?  Suppose you were standing before God right now and He asked you, Why should I let you into my heaven, what do you think you would say? The answer to this question is also found in the Holy Bible.  Look at this verse:  “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 (KJV).  God loves us and has a purpose for our lives.

Gospel (Good News)

God's Purpose is that we should have Eternal Life.

We receive eternal life as a free gift!
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 6:23 (KJV)

We can live a full and meaningful life right now.
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
John 10:10 (KJV)

We will spend eternity with Jesus in Heaven.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
John 14:3 (KJV)

God's purpose is that we have meaning in life.  If this is true, then why is it that mankind seldom finds true meaning in life? The answer is that our sinful nature keeps us from fulfilling God's Purpose for our lives.

Our need is to understand our problem.

We are all sinners by nature and by choice!
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Romans 3:23 (KJV)

We can not save ourselves
Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Ephesians 2:9 (KJV)

We all deserve death and hell!
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 6:23 (KJV)

It is true that God is Holy and Just and must punish sin, yet he loves us and has provided forgiveness for our sins.  “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”  John 14:6 (KJV).

God's provision is Jesus Christ!

Jesus is God and became man!
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God
John 1:1 (KJV)

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
John 1:14 (KJV)

Jesus died for us on the cross!
For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
1 Peter 3:18 (KJV)

Jesus rose from the dead!
Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
Romans 4:25 (KJV)

This is good news, but the only way Jesus can affect our lives is for us to receive him.  The Holy Bible says, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:” John 1:12 (KJV)

Our response is to receive Jesus!

We must repent of our sins.
 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
Acts 3:19 (KJV)

We must place our faith in Jesus Christ.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Ephesians 2:8 (KJV)

We must surrender to Jesus as Lord
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Romans 10:9-10 (KJV)

The choice is ours!

Does what you have been reading make sense to you?

Is there any reason why you would not be willing to receive God's gift of eternal life?

Are you willing to turn from sin and place your faith in Jesus Christ right now?

The bible says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13 (KJV).

Would you like to ask God for everlasting life?  Read this prayer and if it is what you want to say to God, use it to ask for everlasting life.

Lord Jesus Christ, I believe that you are the son of God, that you died on a cross, and that you were raised from the dead just like the Holy Bible says.   I know that I have sinned and that I need forgiveness.   I turn from my sin and receive you as my Savior and Lord.  Thank you for saving me, Amen.
