I was born again on 042688, at Eastside Baptist Church in Douglas, GA. Dr. Ike Reighard was preaching a message on “Two Sins and Two Judgments.” The Holy Spirit was all over me before the service began. I started weeping before the music started. I surrendered my life to the Lord Jesus Christ and experienced rapid growth and a deep appreciation for the Word of God.
On July 17, 1988 I was licensed to the Gospel Ministry by Mt Zion Baptist Church in Axson, GA. Preaching did not come natural to me. A few Christians prayed for me to become BOLD and that lit a fire in my soul. I became a soul winner, did a lot of studying, and some supply preaching. I was ordained on February 25th of 1990 at Mt Zion Baptist Church on the request of Stokesville Baptist Church in Axson, GA. I preached hard, saw many people saved, and it lasted about 11 months.
I needed seminary, so I began praying. Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary (MABTS) in Memphis , TN was my choice. While attending MABTS, I volunteered as a Chaplain at the Mark Luttrell Transition Center (MLTC). This was a diagnostic prison where all inmates on the West Side of TN went before being assigned to a State Prison. Inmates were coming in daily, so there were a lot of new inmates to tell about Jesus Christ every day. Hundreds went through there every month.
Try Jesus Ministries was started on 11/14/1991 while I was in MABTS. I gave out full KJV Bibles, witnessed to everyone who would listen, preached in the Prison Chapel on Sunday Nights, preached revivals, did some supply preaching, and was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church. I soaked up the Word in MABTS and from Adrian Rogers, my pastor. God opened my eyes to spiritual gifts, how they operate within the local New Testament Church, and I studied hard for three years. A teaching module was made, and I let one Pastor use the module to see where it needed work. I graduated from Seminary on May 12 of 1995 with a MDiv.
After seminary, my first child was born and God slowed me down. I was used to start a new Church in Brighton, TN. Central Baptist Church was quite an experience. I remember preaching in a community center, witnessing to people, borrowing a Church to baptize, buying land, building a building, and growing a Church. It was fast paced and lasted about 5 years.
We moved back to GA and I was called to a Church that had just gone through a bad split. I was at St. Illa Missionary Baptist Church for almost 6 years, taught the senior Adult Sunday School Class, trained members with CWT, trained members with Gifted By God, and stayed until it was time to leave.
One month after that door closed, another door opened. Mt Zion is my home Church. Their pastor retired, so I began supply preaching. I was the interim for two years, and became the Pastor. The whole Church was trained to win souls, trained with Gifted by God, and then Covid stopped everything. We have just started reaching out to the community again. I pray hard, study hard, and preach hard! That Holy Bible still blows my mind! This week I pulled two all nighters studying the Holy Bible. It is stirring me deep down inside again.
I retired from a career in Law Enforcement, my children moved away to college, and it is back to just me and my wife and two dogs. I still remember that God has called me to be an Evangelist. I have preached in seven states, preached in prisons, preached in jails, preached revivals, preached weddings, preached funerals, counseled couples, supply preached for sick and vacationing Pastors, train Christians how to win souls, and teach Christians about Spiritual Gifts. One day I will be an itinerant (traveling) Evangelist again. Do you need help from an Evangelist?
